Depth of Field ~ Lyra's Project
The theme for this photograph is Depth of Field. I found myself thinking about Brooke Shaden (an amazing fine art photographer) who uses a peculiar technique to create a depth of field within her photographs. Rather than shoot with a wide lens to capture an entire scene (thus increasing the depth of field), Shaden shoots on a long lens, capturing multiple frames and stitches them all together later in photoshop. This allows her to retain the narrow depth of field resultant from a longer lens, whilst also allowing her to show a wider scene. When I read this week's theme, I immediately knew that it was time for me to pay homage to one of the finest conceptual artists of our generation (and try out a new technique at the same time!). Don't forget that Lyra's Project is part of a pet photographer blog ring - next up is Laura Mclean Photography. Keep on clicking through the links until you arrive back here!

Lyra's Project is an ongoing personal series, and part of Project 52 from the Beautiful Beasties Network (an international group of professional pet photographers). Project 52 exists so that we may collectively challenge ourselves and our creativity with a weekly assignment. Every week a different pet photographer chooses a theme, which each person interprets in their own way. The photograph must be taken during that week, and on Friday evening (8pm Aussie time) everyone's blog posts go live. Click the link above to see the next photographer's image and continue around the blog circle until you end up back here - enjoy!
