Canada's biggest grocery store, Loblaw, has just launched a hilarious advertising campaign featuring Norman, the Eco-Warrior cat. Norman is the face of their mission to source 100% sustainable seafood by 2013 (go Loblaw, by the way!). The ad was released by World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and it's pretty darn cute!
p.s. on a more serious note, sustainability in fishing really is a very serious and pressing issue. According to the Food and Agriculture Organization's 2010 State of the World's Fisheries and Aquaculture report, "85% of the world's fisheries are either fully exploited, over exploited, depleted or recovering from depletion." Don't forget to look for the MSC or ASC labels if you buy fish - MSC equals sustainable seafood sourced from wild fisheries and ASC equals sustainable seafood sourced from farms.
