Hi there! I’m Caitlin – founder of Ragamuffin Pet Photography.
I started Ragamuffin 15 years ago, inspired by my scruffy rescue pup, Lyra. Today, we’re proud to be recognised as one of Australia’s top animal portrait studios, with a small team of expert, dog-loving photographers working across Melbourne and Victoria.
We specialise in natural portraits with a patient, stress-free approach. Since 2010, we’ve photographed thousands of happy dogs — and raised over $200,000 for animal rescue!

Nope! Trust me, we’ve seen it all—zoomies, zero recall, sitting for a grand total of 0.5 seconds. It’s all part of the fun!
We use treats, toys, and loads of patience, and since leads can be edited out, they don’t even need to sit still! There is no such thing as "too crazy" when it comes to a Ragamuffin photoshoot!

Photos and rain don’t mix — so if the weather isn’t looking ideal, we’ve got a plan!
We’ll make the final call on the forecast on the morning of the event, when we have the most accurate hourly updates. If it’s too rainy to shoot, we’ll be in touch first thing with a reschedule plan.

Can’t make any of the reschedule dates? No worries — we’ll convert your ticket into a credit for a future session with Ragamuffin Pet Photography.Either way, you won’t miss out on getting gorgeous portraits of your dog!

You’re welcome to bring up to two dogs per session — just keep in mind that these are short, 15-minute shoots, so we’ll be working quickly!
If you have more than two dogs (you lucky thing!), feel free to book two back-to-back spots so we have enough time to give each furry face the attention they deserve. 🐾

Photos are never impossible — we work with dogs of all personalities, and we’re here to make the experience as stress-free as possible.
That said, there will be other dogs around at the Pawtrait Party, so if your furkid is highly anxious or reactive, they might be more comfortable with one of our Signature Sessions instead. These sessions give us extra time, space, and flexibility in a calm and quiet location.

No worries at all — most of the dogs we photograph are on-lead!
We use long leads and clever angles to keep your pup safe while still capturing natural, beautiful portraits. And any leashes can be edited out during the retouching process, so the final images look gorgeous.
Your dog’s safety and comfort always come first!

You don’t have to — but we highly recommend it.
We know being in front of the camera can feel a bit daunting, but you’re your dog’s whole world. A few sweet portraits together often turn out to be the most meaningful of all. We’ll keep it super relaxed and guide you every step of the way!

We have a range of gorgeous fine art options - fine art prints start from $275 each, canvas wall art starts at $695 and collections start at $950.
We gift our clients a matching digital version of every printed photograph.

Around a week after the Pawtrait Party, you’ll have your own Zoom Session Reveal — a relaxed, one-on-one appointment where we’ll show you a beautiful slideshow of your portraits and help you choose your favourites.

We specialise in full service portraiture – which means the magic doesn’t stop when we turn off the camera.
Every image is carefully and thoughtfully retouched by our in-house post-production artist. We remove leads, tidy distractions, and gently enhance the natural light to highlight your dog’s expression, texture, and sparkle. It’s all about keeping things true-to-life… just a little more polished.
This is where good photography becomes wall-worthy art.
