SESSION BLOG

I photographed a Pocket Session with Rupert and Poppy in Williamstown. Rupert is a cheeky 3-year-old black pug and Poppy is his 18-month old sister.

If I had a penny for every time a stranger came up to me in the middle of a photoshoot and chortled ""Never work with children or animals, amirite?"", I would have many pennies.
The adage is totally wrong, by the way. I'd like to offer an amendment.

"Never work with children or animals, unless you want to fill your days with pure joy, giggles, silliness, tenderness and a glorious unpredictability."

You don't get to tell toddlers OR dogs to pose pretty for the camera. You have to CREATE the moment, with genuine patience and warmth, and then be there to capture it. You can't rock up to a shoot grumpy or rushed - children and animals will sense that in an instant (and they won't ignore it!).

Working with children and animals is not easy, but it's so rewarding, and I wouldn't have it any other way!

In a nutshell . . .

'Rupert still has his playful puppy character and gets along very well with other dogs his age and size. He has a human sister, 18-month old Poppy and they love to go on adventures together.'

What makes that tail wag . . .

'Rupert loves walks, play time and generally being by your side. He loves chewing on his toys endlessly and playing tug-o-war.'"

“Magical moments . . .”

Rupert had a photoshoot with Ragamuffin a couple of months back and the results were amazing. Not only was Caitlin delightful to work with, she also had an amazing way of capturing magical moments between Rupert and his human sister, Poppy.

Caitlin’s energy, approachability and overall friendliness made sure that both Rupert and Poppy felt at ease the entire time and in turn, were able to be their cheeky selves resulting in some beautiful pictures of them both.

Going through the images captured on the day, Caitlin was also very accommodating to our particular needs and requests making the photo reveal and decisions on the final product very easy. The creation of the final piece that she put together was fantastic and suited our family perfectly.

To anyone wanting to capture their pets in their natural and happy form, we highly recommend using Caitlin to do this. Not only will you receive amazing portraits and images of your loved ones, but also have the most fun on the day itself capturing them in all their greatness.
