You're No Fool

The one and only year I pranked Benny for April Fools Day, I made a big deal about having trapped a mouse under a bowl in the kitchen and asked Benny to take it outside. Now, he is not exactly a fan of rodents, so I could see his hesitation. But I played the old school “you’re the man, you do it” card. Which - let’s be clear, I never actually pull that card - I'm the chief spider relocator in our house. But I digress…

Benny, ever the good sport, cautiously slid a piece of paper under the bowl. Then, as he flipped it over, he froze. There was a distinct clunk. He carefully moved the paper, only to discover a computer mouse sitting under the bowl instead of the rodent he was expecting. His face went from terror to "are you kidding me" in about half a second. Worth it.

The Funniest Business April Fools' Pranks

I just love April Fools - no pressure, no gifts, just silly fun. Some companies actually do it right:

McDonald's once said they were making a "McPickle" burger that was literally just pickles on a bun. No joke, I would eat that. Love me some pickles.
Ikea pretended to launch "Pee-kea" with a self-cleaning toilet brush (why isn't this a real thing though?)
And Krispy Kreme tried to sell us on a ketchup-filled donut which... gross. Just gross.

Look, I could try to come up with some ridiculous April Fools joke about the business, but honestly? I've got actual news that's way more important - and after all, you're no fool! So, instead of pranking you this year, I’ve got something real and exciting to share.

After 15 Years, I’m Making Some Big Changes

As many of you know, I’ve spent the last 15 years of my life building Ragamuffin Pet Photography into what it is today. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of photographing so many wonderful pets and their families, creating memories that will last a lifetime. I’ve witnessed the deep bond between pets and their owners, and every photoshoot has been a reminder of why I love what I do.

But after 15 years, it’s time for me to make a change—one that will allow me to continue serving you, but in a way that’s even more aligned with what I’m passionate about.

For those of you who have been following my journey, you know that I’ve always offered a range of photo experiences. From my "short & sweet" Pawtrait sessions to the more immersive Signature and Adventure sessions. But as I continue to grow and evolve, I’ve realised that I need to make some shifts.

So, here’s my all truth, no prank announcement for April: I’m no longer photographing my Pawtrait mini sessions.

Why the Change?

As our world all become more inundated with digital images, I have leant more and more into providing my clients with something other than just the USB of digital photos. I've particularly fallen in love with designing albums and editing session mini films - both options that allow me to dive deeper into the story of the dog and their human. But this style of portraiture requires more time.

So, over the past few months, I’ve been busy building a fantastic team of dog-loving photographers. The team will allow me to continue offering our Pawtrait mini sessions, for those clients who want to update old photos, give sessions as gifts, just need a few digitals or work with a smaller budget. And here’s the exciting part: With this restructuring, I’ll be able to focus more on what truly excites me—working with clients who want to go deeper and tell the full story of their dog.

What’s Next?

I’m excited to soon officially introduce you to the team—we’re in the final portfolio-building stages, and I think we’ll do a big launch soon so you can get to know the new faces!

Change is exciting...and f*^king scary! But I’m looking forward to offering more in-depth experiences with my clients, building stronger connections, and telling even deeper stories through my photography.

Thanks for sticking with me all these years. Can't wait to see where this goes next!
